Karen DeHart
Karen complained of back pain over the course of five months before finally being diagnosed with a spinal tumor. Then, a neurosurgeon performed spinal surgery, but instead of removing the tumor, he removed a portion of Karen’s spinal cord, rendering her a paraplegic.

What was the cause?
Dr. Borromeo failed to timely diagnose DeHart’s spinal tumor.
Dr. Pillay performed the spinal surgery to remove the tumor and instead negligently removed the nerve roots leading from DeHart’s spine to her lower extremities, rendering her a permanent paraplegic.
